Though Apple released the iPhone 4S with much fanfare, it was pretty obvious that millions were disappointed with what the iPhone 4S had to offer. Not too many people liked the fact that the iPhone 4S kept the same exact design as the iPhone 4, even though the iPhone 4 was released 16 months before the launch of the iPhone 4S. If not for the faster dual core A5 processor and the intelligent virtual assistant in Siri, the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S would have essentially been the same phone. Even though the iPhone 4S has been a hit in terms of sales, there are millions and millions of iPhone 4 users who skipped on the upgrade, to obviously upgrade to the iPhone 5 instead of the iPhone 4S. In the sections below, we will go over the most important new features that are expected in the iPhone 5.
iPhone 5 Specs
iPhone 5 4G LTE
The 4G network has arrived, with a big bang. Considering that 4G can result in download speeds that are in excess of 28.8Mbps, it has to be said that 3G will soon be left in the dust. So, it is only obvious that Apple will or should include 4G LTE support in the iPhone 5. Some industry experts actually say that Apple wanted to include 4G LTE support in the iPhone 4S (which was incidentally supposed to be the iPhone 5), but just could not manage it as the 4G LTE chips were just too big for the iPhone’s current design and battery capabilities. If the iPhone 5 is going to include 4G LTE support, it would also mean that the iPhone 5 will get a larger screen size as only a phone with a large screen will have enough space to accommodate 4G LTE chips. You can read more about the probable iPhone 5 screen size in the passage below.

iPhone 5 Screen size – What will it be?
This is quite a difficult question to answer as there are a lot of factors that might affect the answer. First off, it is public knowledge that Steve Jobs firmly believed that 3.5 inches was the perfect screen size for the iPhone 5.Steve Jobs was a firm believer that anything more than a 3.5 inch screen for a phone was oversized, ugly and uncalled for. Steve Jobs has publicly made statements to the press that he is concerned about the use of large screens on Apple devices as they will result in a compromise on battery life. According to him, the only solution would be to increase the size of the battery although that will call for design modifications that are just not feasible, considering that Apple makes some of the most stylish products that are available in the market today.
Another problem with a larger screen on the iPhone 5 is that a larger screen will make it very difficult for Apple to retain the retina display resolution that the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S currently boast of. There have been rumors that seemed to suggest that Apple just couldn’t figure out a way to maintain the quality of the retina display on a screen that was larger than 3.5 inches, suggesting that Apple might keep the screen size of the iPhone 5 at just 3.5 inches, instead of increasing it to 4 or 4.3 inches.
iPhone 5 release date – When might it be?
Apple has never been a company that has announced the release date of their products at an advance date. Because of this, we can only guesstimate the big release date or launch date for the iPhone 5. There are thousands of people who are expecting to buy the iPhone 5 in just 6 months time, sometime in June or July of 2012. But, what people fail to understand is that the summer release dates at Apple have traditionally been reserved for the iPad models. With several rumors suggesting that the iPad 3 has entered production stage, it is very likely that the iPhone 5 will not be released in June or July of 2012, along with the release of the iPad 3.
There are even some very interesting rumors that suggest that the iPhone 5 will be released on October 5, 2012, the first death anniversary of Steve Job’s death, as a way to commemorate the death of the famous icon in the world. We definitely think that October 5, 2012 is a real possibility as Apple usually reserves the big product launch for the October month, just in time to allow for enough festive mood shopping.
What else can you expect to see in the iPhone 5?
While most people are only interested in whether or not the iPhone 5 will have a larger screen and also come with LTE support, there are others who are interested in the processor speed and operating system upgrade as well. There have been a few rumors that have seemed to suggest that the iPhone 5 is going to get a super fast quad core processor, along with a much more sophisticated and easy to use IOS6 But, there are also some who believe that the iPhone 5 will retain the same dual core, A5 processor that has been featured in the iPhone 4S.
Frankly, we think that a quad core processor is unnecessary for a cell phone as there are not many applications that will require the power of a quad core procesor. If anything the clock speed of the A5 processor might be increased in the iPhone 5 model. But, we are hopeful that the OS will receive an upgrade as there have been several rumors that have suggested that the IOS6 will support some exciting features such as NFC support, facial unlock technology, panoramic camera mode and so on.
